Darlean Holeva Obituary

Darlean Crumley Holeva was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 21. After an extended trip to El Paso in 1949, she always afterward considered herself a Texan. She married Ted Holeva on September 30, 1950 in Detroit and they moved to El Paso in 1953. She loved the warm desert of El Paso and never missed the cold of Michigan again. Their daughter Barbara was born in El Paso. Later, the family moved to Midland in August of 1956 and it remained her home for the next 60 years. Sons Patrick and Daniel were born in Midland. Darlean was a homemaker, as well as helping Ted with his business, CMC Business Systems. Darlean's mother, Nora Hurley Crumley, moved to the United States in 1917 from County Clare Ireland. Darlean loved Ireland and visited the Emerald Isle several times over the years. She and Ted were members of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She volunteered for many years at Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as a "Pink Lady" and enjoyed her assignment of photographing newborn babies. Darlean was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Holeva; parents, Nelson and Nora Crumley; brothers Harold, Nelson, Robert, and Larry; and her son-in-law, Glen Crane. She is survived by her children, Barbara Crane, Patrick Holeva and wife Jenifer, Danny Holeva and wife Carla; granddaughters Stephanie Barnett and Emily Holeva; and great-granddaughter, Carolee Grace Sanchez. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the caring professionals and staff on the 7th floor of Midland Memorial Hospital for their kindness. We would especially like to thank Martha Ramirez, Shanekia (Shay) Thomas and Denise Burillo for their tender care with our mother. These ladies worked together to keep "Ms. Darlean" (a/k/a Queen Darlean) comfortable and smiling up to and including the day she left us. We are so grateful to these angels for everything they did for her and us. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice Midland or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
