FUNERAL HOME

David Dunn Obituary

The Lord called his precious David Dunn home on January 29, 2015. He was surrounded by his family that loved him dearly. He was born on November 4, 1945 in Birmingham, England to Charley and Rachel Dunn. At 6 months old his mother brought him to America on a ship, so they could be with his dad who had arrived home from the Navy. After spending a wonderful childhood in Crane, his family moved to Greenwood when he was a sophomore. This is when 52 years ago he met his bride on a church hayride. He graduated from Stanton High where sports and stock shows were his love. He then went on to Angelo State University. In 1966 he married Carolyn Bryant. Theirs was a marriage made in heaven where they were blessed with two children and five grandchildren. His immediate and extended family brought him joy from the Lord. His knowledge was broad, and he loved teaching them everything: how to play a sport, how to nurture and raise pigs, how to fix almost anything, and how to be happy in any situation. He, with his tough exterior, will be forever remembered for his gentle, kind and happy ways. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Greenwood Baptist Church on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dunn; children Mark and Cindy Stroud and Jeff and Laura Dunn; grandchildren Meagan Dunn, Ainslee Dunn, Tate Stroud, Lexy Stroud, and Emma Dunn; sisters, Kathleen Alderson and husband the late Hugh Alderson, Joy Armstrong and husband Wayne, and Maureen Martin and husband Clint; and 19 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay David Dunn; his grandson, Jay Mark Stroud; his parents, Charley and Rachel Dunn; Father and Mother-in-law, Alvey and Virginia Bryant; brother and sister-in-laws, Alton and Judy Bryant, Billy Bryant, and Pete Bryant. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.
