Edith Dickerson Noah Edith Dickerson Noah, 94, went to be with the Lord August 12, 2009. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with Reverends T. C. Melton and Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Edith was born July 29, 1915 in Milsap to Frank and Amzy (White) Dickerson. Mrs. Noah came from a large family with nine brothers and sisters. She started school at Caps Elementary in Parker County. While living there, she was baptized at Caps First Baptist Church when she was seven years old. After finishing school, Edith and her family moved to Merkel. After spending a few years in Merkel, Edith moved to Prescott, AZ in 1947. While there, she worked for a movie production company, Anniston Dunham Assistant Company. While at this job, Mrs. Noah experienced events that many people would have loved to partake in. Not only did she work with John Wayne, she was an assistant to Ward Bond in Wagon Train. After finishing her career working for the film company, Edith met Wiley Noah and married him on February 4, 1951. With him having a military career, the Noah's traveled to many different places and were stationed at several Air Force bases. In 1951, they moved to England and were stationed at Bentwater Air Force Base. After coming back to the states, they were stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico; Uma County Air Force Base in Uma, AZ; Yandall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL and the air force base in Lake Myers, WA. In 1961, her husband retired from the Air Force and the two moved back to Merkel. Both Wiley and Edith worked in civil services at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene for twenty years. While living here, Edith became active in the First Baptist Church and Golden Saints. She was also past matron of the Eastern Star. Their house was often the "stop by place" for many of her nieces and nephews. They all enjoyed going to "Aunt Bug's" house to hang out. Wiley and Edith moved to Midland in 2000. "Aunt Bug", as she was lovingly known, was a sweet and very smart woman and always had a comment to make. She lived a long and complete life full of adventure and excitement. She is survived by her sister, Elsie Booe of Seminole; twenty nieces and nephews; and forty-two great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant son, "Sonny Boy"; her husband, Wiley; her parents; five brothers, Roy, Odis "Red", Odell, Joe and Troy Dickerson; and four sisters, Lou Ella Dickerson, Minnie Carey, Linnie Hatfield and R.V. Carey. You may view and sign the online guestbook at
