Eric Hammock Obituary

Eric Jay Hammock of Midland went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the age of 43. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 20, 1961 to James Chester (Jay) Hammock and Ella B Crabtree Hammock, both deceased. Eric is survived by his wife, Kathilyn Hammock, daughter, Brittani Hammock, and stepson, Brock Elliott Hammock of the home, and his brother, Mark C. Graham of San Antonio and sister, Karen Smith of Magazine, Arkansas. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.

Eric attended Texas Tech University in the school of architecture. He moved to Midland in October 1984. He married Kathilyn McDowell in 1986. Brittani was born to the couple on April 20, 1989 in Midland, Texas. In 1993, Eric started Design Services architectural firm. Later, he started several other construction companies and Water Wizards. As a successful business man, Eric shared his time and knowledge with many friends and associates.

Eric was very active in his church, Stonegate Fellowship. He also worked with Hi Sky Emmaus. He sponsored many people on Emmaus walks to help them become closer to God. He donated his company's services both to area churches and to Circle Six Baptist Encampment at Stanton.

Eric will be missed by his family, by his friends, and by the many people that he touched in his everyday life. A leader in the business, school and Christian communities, his goodwill and generosity will be a deep loss to all who knew him.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Stonegate Fellowship with Reverend Roy Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Hi Sky Emmaus, P.O. Box 10370, Midland, Texas 79702 or Circle Six Baptist Encampment, P.O. Box 976, Stanton, Texas 79782.

I've known Eric since he first moved to Midland and rented from me. We were introduced by my dear friend, his Aunt Jackie. I will always remember his great smile, the sparkle of his eyes and sweet nature. Eric was a true blessing to all he came in contact with and will be sorely missed by many. Our prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
