Eugene Thomas Obituary

Gene Thomas, 83, of Midland passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008.

Gene was born on January 25, 1925 to Otis and Opal Thomas in Loving, TX. He attended high school in Olney, TX and later graduated from Midwestern University with a B.S. in Geology. Gene was also a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Gene married Conova Morris of Nocona, TX in 1955 in Wichita Falls. Gene was transferred from Wichita Falls to Midland in 1957. He worked for the University of Texas Lands from 1966-1991 and later did consulting work for Tom Minihan. He was a member of the U.S. Geological Society and a 22 year Kiwanian.

Gene is survived by his wife Connie Thomas and numerous nephews and nieces.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Macky Pitts officiating. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Gene's golf buddies at Ranchland Hills Golf Club.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at 3205 W. Cuthbert Ste A-8, Midland, TX 79701. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made to www.mem.com.

Both Blanche an I are saddened by the loss of Gene. He was a gentle man and a;ways pleasant to be around. he will be missed.
