Jimmy Jones Obituary

Jimmy Ray Jones went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He was born in Brownfield, Texas. He grew up in Midland and attended Midland schools. Jimmy had a huge heart, contagious laugh and twinkle in his eye. He loved gardening, working on his ranch and his Harley. He had many friends and will be greatly missed. He spent his life working in the west Texas oilfields as welder, contract pumper and consultant. He is survived by and blessed with six children, Shane Jones of Vernal, Utah, Kim Nelson and husband Rodney of Kermit, Jimmy Ray Jones, Jr. and wife Tammy of Monahans, Josh Jones and wife Catrina of McKinney, Rindy Jones of Watson, Oklahoma and Renee Branson of Wister, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his father, JK Jones of Midland; mother and best friend, Loretta Hendrix of Midland; brother, Kenn Jones and wife Becky of Houston; sister, Pattie Barnett and husband Rickey of Midland; 10 wonderful grandchildren; 3 nephews; his companions, Buster and Sheba, his dogs and many friends. Family visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, June 4, 2010 at the funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland. The family would like to show appreciation and thanks to Dr. Ram Kolluru, Dr. PJ Patel and the entire emergency room staff. Emily and the nurses were so helpful and kind. Thank you for the many strangers at the ER that showed compassion and kindness. Honorary pallbearers are Timber Floyd, George Lewis, CW Smith, Randy Cozart, Jack Crouse and Mel Penny. The family requests memorials may be made to Midland SPCA, 2701 S County Road 1206, Midland, TX 79706. Jimmy loved animals. My husband and I just got to know Jim over the past couple of years. He did business with us here in Stanton where we live and we really did enjoy visiting with him. He was such a wonderful person who we will greatly miss seeing around town. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
