John Voelkel Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. John Andrew Voelkel, 90, former longtime Snyder resident was at 2 p.m., Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father James Bridges, pastor of Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in Midland officiated along with Rev. Larry McAden, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church in Snyder. Interment was at Hillside memorial Gardens in Snyder.

He died at 6:02 AM, on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX.

He was born on Thursday, July 19, 1917, in New Orleans, LA., and married Sylvia Herty on 09/16/1936 in New Orleans LA. She preceded him in death on December 1, 1981.

He moved to South Texas in 1944 to work for Sun Oil Company. He moved to Silver Texas in 1953. He then moved to Perryton in 1959 where in worked in both Texas and Oklahoma and moved to Snyder in 1962 where he lived until about five years ago when he moved to Midland. He retired from Sun Oil in 1981 after 44years. He was Catholic and attended Saint John's Catholic Church in Hermleigh as well as attending Saint Elizabeth's in Snyder.

He is survived by: 2 Daughters: Judy Green, Midland, TX Sylvia Voelkel, Snyder, 1 Grandson: Jarrett Green, Midland and other special people, Dan Green and wife Marsha of Forney, TX.

He was also preceded by a daughter, Jackie Voelkel on Februay 11, 1997 and a son Johnny Voekel, Jr. on June 21 2003.
