Jose Cardona Obituary

"Joe" Jose Cervantes Cardona, 80, of Gardendale went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born January 1, 1929 in Sonora, TX to Jose & Juana Cardona. He married Mary Dora Terrazas on October 28, 1951 in Ft. Stockton. He is a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Ector County Sheriff's Posse.

He lived in Odessa for 54 years. He owned and operated Cardona Water Well Drilling Company. He had a very special gift of locating water with brass rods. He loved horses, gardening, singing and cooking. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Dora Cardona, and his son, Joe T. Cardona III, sisters, Eva C. Cardona and Mary Pina.

He is survived by his son, Fidel T. Cardona of Gardendale, (3) daughters, Stella Grace Mora & husband Ruben, Juanita C. Selman & husband Tom, Nora T. Cardona -Valdez all of Midland, (14) grandchildren (16) great-grandchildren and two on the way.

A Rosary was said at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Midland with Father Bridges officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff on 6 central at MCH. Scotti, Joyce, Mike, Rachel, Cas, Anthony, Anna, Stacy, and Teresa. Also special thanks to Dr. Davenport and Dr. Barnard for the special care given to our father.

I wish you peace in knowing that Tio isn't suffering any more. I am so sorry that I couldn't be with you these days. I will remember the happy times we spent as a family growing up. I will remember him as he was then and not as he was suffering these past years. Know that you will all have our prayers and love.
