Josefa Ornelas Sanchez

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Josefa Ornelas Sanchez went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2015. She was surrounded by those she loved and those who will forever cherish and honor her wonderful spirit and memory. Funeral services have been set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Tim Schwertner officiating; interment will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Josefa, 74, passed away in Midland on Friday, July 24, 2015. She was born in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 13, 1940 to Gonzalo Ornelas and Crispina Martinez Ornelas. She married Frank Sanchez in Candelaria, Texas in 1959. She was employed with and retired from the Martin County Hospital after many years of faithful service. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Socorro Ornelas, Felipe Ornelas, Ramon Ornelas, Herminia Pallares, and Remidios Herrera. She is survived by four sons, Fabian Sanchez and wife Heidi of Olympia, Washington, Guadalupe Sanchez and wife Yvette, and Oscar Ornelas Sanchez and wife Anita, all of Midland, and George O. Sanchez and wife Jennifer of Harlingen, Texas; two daughters, Christina Tayyem and husband Ziad of Arlington, Texas, and Nancy Sanchez of Midland; four sisters, Esperanza Lopez and Lucia Carrasco, both of Portales, New Mexico, Elena Ramirez of Denver, Colorado, and Juana Sanchez of Arlington; five brothers, Gonzalo Ornelas, Domingo Ornelas and Tito Ornelas, all of Midland, Mariano Ornelas of Marfa, Texas, and Jesus Ornelas of Portales; 15 grandchildren, Kiara Sanchez, Zackery Sanchez, Ariel Sanchez, Marisol Sanchez, Araceli Sanchez, Natali Sanchez, Sarah Sanchez Walker, Francisco "Frankie" Sanchez, Alex Sanchez and Miranda Sanchez, Zacee Tayyem, Nadia Tayyem, Alysandra Lujan, Bryce Ellington, and Andrea Ellington. Rosary will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stanton Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stanton Memorial Funeral Home & Chapel.
