Kenneth Cork Obituary
Battle Creek
Kenneth Edward Cork, "Breeze"age 53, of Battle Creek, MI departed this life on Monday, May 19, 2014, at home. He was born on December 9, 1960; the son of the late Clarence and Lois Cork. Kenneth was a 1979 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He attended Kellogg Community College. He was currently employed at II Stanley and previously employed at Springhill Manor, Horrocks and Johnson Controls.
Kenneth is survived by daughter, Chanel McClenney of Battle Creek; sons, Robert Gills, Kenneth Pratt, Chris Gills and Michael McClenney, all of Battle Creek, and Kenneth Gills of Georgia; sisters, Denise (James) Truvillion of Georgia, Linette Cork, Charletta Cork of Battle Creek; brothers, Kevin Cork, Kerry Cork, and Keith Cork of Battle Creek, Joe (Tyreia) Schumaker of Mississippi, and Steve Gills of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; fiancé, Stephanie Jones; special daughters, Latara Cooper, Nakisha Jones and Breyonna Smith; special friend, Dana Harper; and a host of cousins, friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Kenneth enjoyed playing baseball, watching sports and spending time with his friends and family. He was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elbert and Cora (Robinson) Cork, Benjamin and Elizabeth Richardson; parents, Clarence and Lois Cork; special uncle, Ronald Richardson; and a special son, Darrien LaGrand.
Family will receive friends at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Darrien LaGrand Music Scholarship Fund, American Diabetes Association or the Cereal City Hoopsters. Kenny was a friend, always brought a smile to my face because he had one on his. We had some good times during football practices at Northwestern. He was just a really cool dude. Seems I just ran into him, we slapped hands, embraced and wish each other well after chatting for awhile. I will miss not seeing him. My condolences to Niecy, and the family. I know how hard it is to lose someone so close. God will give you comfort now and as the years past, trust that. We will see his smile again.

I remember the last time I saw Breeze which was some years ago at the store. In passing, we greeted and embraced each other. Saturday, May 17, 2014, you appeared in the doorway, of our oldest son's room. I can only imagine the pain you were in, yet you took the time to see Robert, as you always did—your presence was needed. You greeted us, as you always did. I could see the concern written on your face; I could hear it in your voice; you were so needed. You smiled, joked and laughed. My brother, Del, said you were a legend ? You said things that revealed the Man you had come to be; Your actions revealed your heart. In silence we left the hospital, but before we parted, you told us to have a nice day; and, we departed. Who would have known that that would be the last time we would see you. God called you home; your work was done. Praise God! I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to see the face of the Creator. Kenny…rest in the Lord, eternally in God's love.
