Monty Wood

Monty Joe Wood, age 62, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Hospice House of Odessa. He was born in Albany, TX on March 10, 1950 to the late Everrett Monroe Wood and Victoria Mae (Deaton) Wood. He married Judy Millett in Odessa on March 30, 1985. Mr. Wood worked for many years as a truck driver and was employed by Diamond Truck Rental. He was a hard worker and often worked 60-80 hours a week. He was a member of Zion Christian Church. A US Army Veteran, Monty was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved to ride his motorcycle and was an active member of the Patriot Guard. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to fish and mow his grass. He was known to mow for his neighbors once he got going. He is survived by his wife: Judy Wood of Odessa; daughter: Amanda Dodd and husband Barry of Midland; two sons: Joseph Wood and wife Kassy of El Paso and Matthew Wood of Watertown, N.Y.; sister: Vicki Cotton of Odessa; nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. On Saturday, September 22, 2012 the family and friends will gather around 11:00 am for a meal in the Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Memorial services will follow Acres West 24 Hour Chapel at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 22, 2012. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas.
