Robert Thames Obituary

Robert R. "Bob" Thames, III
09/26/1954 - 08/16/2023
Robert R. "Bob" Thames, III passed peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends August 16, 2023. He was born in Greenville Mississippi on September 26, 1954. Bob grew up in Midland, Texas and moved to Denver Colorado after graduating from Midland High School.
Bob loved the outdoors, and it was there that he was most content. He told loved ones that the outdoors was his church. He had an adventurous spirit and lived life to the fullest. He loved the Rocky Mountains, snow skiing, water skiing, fishing, camping, hiking, and simply spending time in nature and in his garden. Bob cherished time with family and friends at the family home on Lake Brownwood, Texas and this was where he chose to spend his final days.
Bob had a quirky sense of humor, and it was a special feeling to make him laugh. He gave the best hugs and loved with all of his heart. He had a generous, kind soul and was the most genuine, best friend a person could ever hope for.
Bob adored his dogs and had many "best friends" during his life including Mac Daddy Dog, JJ Brownwood, and Luna B.
Bob met Sher Schalk, his soul mate, and the love of his life in Denver Colorado. They went on their first date April 4, 1994. Sher made Bob a very happy man when she married him on July 25th, 1998. They lived in Colorado until they moved to Sheridan Texas on July 30th, 2021.
Bob was a wonderful, loving, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Patricia Thames. He is survived by his wife Sher Thames, Son Tony Schalk and his wife Carol of Littleton Colorado, Grandchildren; Lexus Pierce and her husband Jonathan of Long Beach California, Samina, Justin and Prax Schalk of Littleton Colorado and Deven Vaden of Las Vegas, Nevada, Great Grandson Kian Vaden of Las Vegas, Nevada, Father Robert R. Thames, Jr, Brother Joe Thames and his wife Stacy, Sister Jacque Cain and her husband Gary, Sister Lynda James and her husband John, all of Midland, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
