ELFLAND — Mr. Arthur Willie Baldwin, 86, of Efland, passed away early Sunday morning, March 19, 2017, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Mr. Baldwin was born December 14, 1930, in Newhall, WV, one of eleven children born to the late David Preston and Jennie Brewster Baldwin. Arthur proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a foreman from Pike Electric after many years of service. Mr. Baldwin was a member of River of Joy Church in Durham and attended Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Efland. He is survived by his second wife, Flora Waddell Baldwin of the home; a daughter, Karen B. Knight of Efland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry D. and Shannon Baldwin of Timberlake and Steven S. and Jamie Baldwin of Elon; five grandchildren, Jeremy Baldwin, Joseph Baldwin, Kristen Knight, Tyler Knight, and Amanda Knight; two step-grandsons, Hunter Watkins and Cody Loy; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Baldwin; six sisters, Mary Bauguess of King, Lou Tannery and Lucille Weaver, both of Winston-Salem, Becky Muncy of Argillite, KY, and Bernice Gillespie and Izona Simpson, both of Pounding Mill, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Freeda Baldwin of Newhall, WV; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by his first wife, Vernice Scott Baldwin; a son-in-law, Kevin Knight; a grandson, Jonathan Baldwin; a sister, Jackie Baldwin; and two brothers, Fred Baldwin and Andrew Baldwin. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Cecil Coates and the Rev. Christopher Grill officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Claudville, VA, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
