Barbara Thore

MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Eunice Barbara Nunn Thore, 85, of 1079 Collins Farm Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, July 22, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Thore was born November 27, 1929, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Willie Hamon and Donie Emerline Hiatt Nunn. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith and Gospel Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Percy Batten Thore of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Roger Portis and Renee and Marvin Byrd, all of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Pandy Payne, Devon and Kaylee Byrd, Austin Byrd, Daisy Byrd, and Rebecca Portis, all of Mount Airy; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Payne and Andrew Payne, both of Mount Airy; a sister, Doris Nunn Chilton of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thore was preceded in death by a son, James William Thore; a granddaughter, Robin Amanda Hill; a sister, Geraldine Nunn Rogers; and a brother, Keith Nunn. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Alan Easter, the Rev. Buford E. Jessup, and the Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
