In memory of Josephine E. Thore, daughter of Norma Estelle Thore and Captain Joseph "Jack" Thore. Josephine passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2023. She is survived by her sister, Majorie Thore Hoots of Winston-Salem; her children, Deborah Shaw of Ponce Inlet, Florida, Jordan Ploch of Bronx, New York, Elizabeth Parrish of Granbury, Texas, Rebecca Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Brandi Leo of Fort Worth and Derek Shephard of Bryan, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Rylee Leo and Regan Leo of Fort Worth. Voted the "prettiest" at Peace College and Preparatory 1954, in Raleigh, Josephine married Jordan Ploch of Normandy Beach, New Jersey. She raised four children in New Jersey and moved to her hometown of Pilot Mountain to be closer to her family. In later years, she lived in Granbury, Texas, at the Waterview/Cove, a senior living community. Her son-in-law Marty Parrish spent Wednesdays having ice cream socials with her, while her other son-in-law Glenn Shaw spent time in long-distance conversations. Josephine sang and played piano. She was a soloist at the Presbyterian Church of Red Bank, New Jersey, and Pilot Mountain Baptist Church. Josephine took cooking classes and educated her family's palettes! Growing up in an "Emily Post" manners home, her expression of "Show respect and dress your best!' You will always be the "Prettiest"; we miss you, we love you, and are so glad the Lord has lifted you out of pain. Please, Lord, surround her with music and Southern belle ball gowns! In lieu of flowers please contribute to the historical society of Surry County.
