Frances Kay Copeland, born on July 8, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 26, 2026, at the age of 84. A lifelong Texan, Frances was raised in Fort Worth and spent many cherished years residing in Granbury, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of Wister Kay and Ruby Davis Kay.
Frances’s journey of life was marked by love, dedication, and service. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1959, embarking on a lifelong commitment to her family and career. On February 11, 1960, she married William David Copeland. Their union was filled with love until William's passing in 1984, leaving Frances a widow on October 29 of that year.
A devoted mother, Frances is survived by her daughter Vickie Copeland Chamness and son-in-law Joe Chamness. Her family is further enriched by her grandchildren Katie, who is married to Noe Alonzo, and Jason Chamness, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Caleb, Gabriel, Mari Joe Alonzo, Tripp, Rogue, Jason Jr. Chamness, and Cali Randall. Additionally, she is fondly remembered by one brother-in-law, an aunt, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Frances dedicated 41 years of her professional life to the Justin Boot Company, where she worked as a boot design stitcher and later in an office role. Following her retirement in 2005, she continued to serve her community by working part-time at the Granbury Senior Center and delivering Meals on Wheels, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Her hobbies reflected her warm and caring nature. Frances enjoyed spending quality time with her family, reading, traveling, tending to her plants, scrapbooking, card making, and shopping. A fan of home improvement and heartfelt stories, she found joy in watching HGTV programs and Hallmark Channel movies. She also generously volunteered with the Oak Trail Shores Volunteer Fire Department, always ready to assist those in need.
Known for her kindness, caring spirit, and ever-present smile, Frances Copeland left a lasting impression as someone who was always willing to help others. Her generosity and love deeply touched her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wister and Ruby Kay; her husband William David Copeland; and her siblings Jimmy Kay, Johnny Kay, and Cathy Hayes.
