Glendora Nichols Epperson, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. Glendora was born in Surry County on Oct. 10, 1934, to the late Harvey Nichols and Ethel Chilton Nichols. Glendora retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System after many years of service as a crossing guard and cafeteria staff member. She was a longtime faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities, most notably in the missions department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Philbert Epperson; grandson, Philbert Eugene Dawson; brother, Marion Nichols and one infant brother. Glendora is survived by her children, Eugene Epperson, Glenda Dawson, James Epperson, and Mary Epperson; grandchildren, Bobby, William, Joseph, Jadynn, Jamie, and Brandi; one brother, Aubrey Nichols; and two sisters, Norma Lee Knight and Frances Nichols. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery in Mount Airy with Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Glendora and her family have been more than friends to our family -
Glendora shared her heart and soul to her community and neighbors. We loved her and can imagine her sharing Russian tea with mom in heaven
