JAMES KERR Obituary

KERR, JAMES REID "JAMEY" - 54, Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Jamey was born in Evansville, Indiana, on January 25, 1960, to the late Matthew and Lucille Kerr. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in communications. He later moved to Greensboro where he worked in radio and broadcasting as the operations manager for Dick Broadcasting, a career he successfully held for 31 years. Jamey was a very loving and giving person, always willing to help a friend. He was a committed and longtime member of the Greensboro Jaycees and was involved with the golf tournament for many years. In addition, he was a huge Tennessee Volunteer fan and loved the music of Jimmy Buffet. He also enjoyed water and snow skiing with family. A loving father to his children, he was cared for by many. He is survived by his children, Ashley Lucille Kerr and James R. "Reid" Kerr, Jr. In addition, he is survived by a brother, Davey Kerr (Betsy); and a sister, Chris Nixon (Jim). A 2:00 p.m. memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.forbisanddick.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Fellowship Hall, 5140 Dunstan Road, Greensboro, NC, 27405.
