Russell was such a fine Christian man! We enjoyed meeting him over 20 years ago when passing through Mt. Airy. We enjoyed exchanging Christmas cards for many years. Each time we were there for Mayberry Days we always had to get a picture and have a word of prayer with him. He had the same birthdate as I have. My wife and I and our three married children will surely miss this man who reflected Christ-likeness. We are praying for his family. Lord bless.

Russell was Mount Airy's greatest ambassador. He cut my hair for over 60 years and now his niece, Donna, cuts my hair. Russell was admired for many great qualities but the thing I will always remember most about Russell was the kindness, dignity, respect and friendship he always gave to the town characters who hung out at his barbershop. We'll miss you old friend.
