I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of my dear friend. We shared so many childhood memories on Timber Butte Hill-hiking and exploring together. She was never defined by her hearing disability; instead she shined with quiet strength. I'll always cherish our visit a few summers ago, when we looked back on those golden days! Sympathy to the Lowney Family.

I have fond memories of Barbara as we grew up together in the old neighborhood. With a smile I think back to the time when life was so much simpler and every day was an adventure. Though Barbara never knew it she inspired me to reach out, help and develop friendships with people having disabilities. Rest In Peace

I first met Barb at Mending in the Mountains for Cancer Survivors/Fighters. We hit it off and became friends. We would talk on Facebook. Then we saw each other again at Camp Mak A Dream. Barb & I would sign back and forth to each other. Most of the time with her laughing at some of my signs. Then she would teach me new signs. I will miss you Barb!

It was such a privilege to get to know and be a part of Barb’s life and even more so to call her my friend. We met only two years ago at a Christmas party hosted by my youth group and we hit it off instantly. She was warm and outgoing and I felt so compelled to get to know her more. Through the time we have spent together she has helped me in learning to communicate with sign language and we have spent countless afternoons talking and sharing meals and adventures together. She was spontaneous and always up for some fun, whether it was getting a coffee or traveling all the way to Flathead to try the Alpine coaster. Through our friendship, she got to know and become part of my family and she will always be remembered by them. What I admired about Barb was her vulnerability, her willingness to share stories about her life, the good and the bad, and seek to be understood by others. She was so special to me and while I am so happy that she is now in peace, rid of her pain and any sadness she carried, her company and friendship will be missed.

Our family was blessed to know Barb as our friend and we will miss her. Her visits, hugs and show-and-tell with various treasures she shared with the children brought a lot of happiness into our home. We know her life had some rough times, she was a fighter, but learned to give her troubles to Jesus and found comfort in His care. We look forward to seeing her again, until then, we miss you, Barb.

Barb lit up any room. Their were time she didn't realize how intrusive that could be due to her hearing deficit. She faced many experiences that would have caused others to give up. Not Barb. She dug in faced them with courage and helped others do the same. Thank you for being so patient with me.
