Glen Gifford Obituary

Glen Ronald Gifford

August 22, 1954 - November 8, 2022

Glen Ronald Gifford passed away surrounded by his family on November 8, 2022, at St. James Healthcare after a brief illness. Glen was born in Butte on August 22, 1954, to Myrtle & Ronald Gifford.

He attended Monroe Grade School & West JR. High and received his GED. Glen married Lynnie Collins and had two children Jeanie and Jason. They later divorced. Glen then went on to marry Lynn Hemphill and they later divorced.

Glen held numerous jobs throughout his life. He worked at the Montana State Hospital for over 20 years. He then moved on to becoming a laborer working with different construction companies, the Butte Water Company and Butte Granite Works.

Glen loved riding his Harley "Betsie" throughout town and on many different poker runs over the years and many trips to Sturgis. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, driving through the mountains, and having conversations and drinks with friends and family. He also enjoyed reading, watching old western shows, or just chilling in his chair listening to the oldie but goodies music station. Glen was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. You didn't dare call him when his team was playing on TV or even worse when the Packers were losing. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees.

Glen was preceded in death by his son, Jason Gifford, parents, Myrtle & Ronald Gifford, brother, Ray Gifford, nephew Shon Gray, brother-in-law, Stan McLaughlin, grandparents, Harold & Ella Pinkerton, ex-wife, Lynn Roberts and many other good friends that went on before him.

Glen is survived by his daughter, Jeanie (Steve) Johnson, sisters, Judy McLaughlin and Kari Gifford, brother, Dale Gifford, grandkids Marcus Rashleigh, Rylee (Justin) Johnson and Zachary Johnson, Anthony and Glen Gifford, Jason Baker, Andrew Dillon and Alexis King and great-granddaughter, Bella Dillon, his daughter in law, Robin (Granger) Baker and Rachel West, nieces Dawn (Eric) Brand and Heather McLaughlin, nephews Geoff Gifford and Nic Gray. He is also survived by close family friends Deshazo, Anderson and Dotson families and countless others that are too many to be named.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 26, 2022, at the Butte Depot 818 S. Arizona at 1 o'clock. Family requests donations be made to Butte Humane Society. You can spread your wings and "Fly High". With our arms opened wide we say "We Love you WHOLE BUNCHES."

I've known and loved Glen and his family for most of my life. He and my brother's Ernie and Kenny began as and were best friends. He became "just"another member of my family tagging along on fishing and camping trips etc.. Back then our neighborhoods nutured lifelong friendships that continue today with our children and grandchildren. I thank God for that!
May you meet those who have gone before us, give them my love, and please know you are deeply loved and missed by everyone.
