John Victor Faur

John Victor Faur died on August 28, 2023, in his sleep. He was 81.
He was born February 22, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois.
A man of many talents, John held many jobs throughout his life. He was a bookie, a bar manager and owner, a radio DJ, a glass blower, and, at one time, a business man. He told people he got that job because he was the only candidate who wore black socks.
He also served in the Air Force in Vietnam.
He owned and/or managed The Klondike Inn, Shenanigan's, Reflections, Uncle's Pizza and most recently, The Golden Nugget in Troy, Montana.
John was a lifelong sports lover. He spent his childhood and adolescence boxing, playing football and riding horses. He lived and died a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, Black Hawks and White Sox.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Janet; partner, Kerry; and several children; grandchildren; and a couple great-grandchildren. He leaves behind many people who loved him and whose lives he impacted.
A Celebration of Life will be held for John behind the Yaak River Mercantile and Tavern, where his ashes will be spread on the river Sept. 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Bring a drink and your favorite memory of Uncle Johnny.
