Suzanne Stubbs, 84
June 17, 1937 - March 1, 2022
On March 1, 2022 our Mom, Suzanne, succumbed to cancer in Mesa, AZ. Suzanne Teresa Stubbs was born in Salt Lake City, UT June 17, 1937, the only and cherished child of Allan and Mildred Dansie. A descendant of the Jackson family, she grew up in the beautiful Big Hole Valley on the Lazy Diamond 3 Ranch outside of Jackson, MT. She attended high school at St. Mary's Academy as a boarder in Salt Lake City, UT, where she was made popular by her convenient and nifty convertible car. She ultimately chose to graduate with her peers at Beaverhead County High School in Dillon, MT. Suzanne attended Western Montana College where she met the love of her life, Norman Stubbs. They married January 28, 1956 at St. Rose Parish in Dillon. She had five children as the wife of a teacher and coach in Dillon, MT and Pasco, WA. In 1968 she and Norm became the owner operators of the Darigold distributorship in Dillon, which they ran for over 20 years. After their business was sold, Suzanne worked at the Job Service and State Bank. Suzanne was a loving mother who tirelessly worked to provide a comfortable home for her family. She enjoyed a busy social life with her many friends, was an astute bridge player, a voracious reader and an ally to the Dillon Public Library. Suzanne helped Norm study to become a football referee, and consequently was a particularly enthusiastic and knowledgeable football fan. Suzanne and Norman spent many hours together watching their children and grandchildren participate in sports and music, and were proud supporters of Dillon athletics. Suzanne and Norm enjoyed an active retirement in Mesa, AZ. Suzanne was an avid golfer, especially in her later years, when her crowning achievement was a hole in one with her ladies golf league. Suzanne suffered from low vision and was legally blind most of her adult life, but obviously didn't let that slow her down. Suzanne is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Norman Stubbs, and great grandson, Troy Schneidenbach. She is survived by her children Lynne (Rick) Nield, Karen (John) Strickland, Patrick (Marvel) Stubbs, Teresa Stubbs (Led Rhodes), and Julie (Wayne) Hiett, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to your local food bank.

Lynn, Karen, Patrick, Teresa and Julie: I just found out about the passing of your mom. She will always be a treasured memory for me. The connection she had with my mother over coffee each day while they raised us will never be forgotten. My greatest condolences.
