George Plucinski Obituary

George Plucinski, age 85, passed away at the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham, Washington on Thursday, March 13, 2025. George believed in kindness and compassion. He also loved a good joke, and his large personality made him memorable to all he met. George was born on January 30, 1940, in Blue Island, Illinois to parents Adeline and John Plucinski. He married Judith (Judy) Sivek in Chicago on May 18, 1963. The couple moved to Fairbanks Alaska in July 1976 where they lived for 25 years. George continued to grow his career in Telecom where he held many different roles with the local telephone company. In 2001, George and Judy retired to Lynden Washington. Geroge was an avid fisherman and especially loved fly-fishing. He tied his own flies, which he loved to give to others, and actively participated in his local fly-fishing organizations as both a member and leader. He taught all his family members how to fish and inspired several passionate fishermen with his grandsons. George was a builder and could create anything. He built many things around his home from shelves to sheds. He was always generous with his time and knowledge, helping family and friends learn the skills needed to complete their projects. George also enjoyed cooking -- but never the cleaning up, much to the dismay of his wife. He loved hosting dinner parties with family and friends. He was constantly searching for new recipes, but his specialties were his homemade cheesecake and manicotti marinara. George was preceded in death by his wife Judy and is survived by daughter Eileen, son-in law Bill and their sons Adam and Eric; daughter Andrea, her sons Taylor and Renn, Renn's partner Emery and their daughters Maisyn and Logan; and daughter Karen, son-in-law Gavin and their sons Josten and Xander. All are invited for George's visitation on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Home followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery will be about 12:15 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services. George and Judy were great neighbors over the years, and we had countless mailbox conversations. Mr. P always made a point of telling our daughters that he was watching them! I trust you will continue to do so, George. Rest in peace.

I truly enjoyed visiting with George and Judy when they were busily doing something to help with an event at the Lynden Library. Joyful and full of life, they shared their joy openly and generously positively impacting those they came in contact with.
