Hilda Zylstra Obituary

Hilda Puite was born June 23, 1933, in Tjalleberd, Friesland. When she was 4 months old her father passed away and a few years later her mom remarried, and her last name changed to Jager. The family moved to Germany in 1940 and lived there until 1945. The family moved back to Friesland and in 1947 the family immigrated to California where Hilda later got married in February 1951. Later that year Frank was born, followed by Martin (1953) and Henry (1956). The family moved to Everson, WA in 1958 to start dairy farming. Gladys was born in 1961. After the marriage ended, Hilda moved to Lynden and worked as a nurse's aid in the Christian rest home. And later at St. Lukes as a housekeeper. She married Cliff Walker in 1987, and he preceded her in death in 2023. Mom loved doing volunteer work, camping, fishing, and dancing. She also enjoyed shopping, crocheting, and knitted many items for her family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 1pm at Gillies funeral home. Following with be a graveside service in Nooksack Cemetery at 3pm. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
