Tracey Skay Obituary
Tracey (Tracy) Lee Skay, a bold, loving, and fiercely independent woman, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, in Bellingham, Washington, with her family by her side.
Born on July 10, 1958, in Everett, Washington, Tracey lived life on her own terms--with grit, humor, and heart. She had a quick wit, a generous spirit, and a soft spot for those she loved (even if she didn't always show it in the usual ways). She could command a room with her storytelling, find humor in the darkest moments, and always had a song--most likely by Reba--ready to play.
She was a devoted and proud mother to James Skay and his husband, Christopher Overfield. Tracey's dearest friend Donna was a constant source of love and support, and will miss her deeply.
Tracey found joy in life's simple pleasures--whether it was an afternoon playing Bingo, a lucky streak at the slots, or time spent surrounded by the people she loved. She never needed much--just a good laugh, a bit of fun, and people who truly got her.
She was preceded in death by her sister Barb and brothers Mike, Ron, and Rick. She is survived by her sons James and Christopher, her brothers Jeff and Jack, and many beloved nieces and nephews--including Lynn, Ricky, Jodie, Larry, Alicia, and Nikki--and their children, all of whom she loved deeply. She shared an especially close bond with her great-niece Jalyssa, whose light and endless stories brought her joy.
She was greeted in heaven by her loyal dog Rex and many dear friends and family members--including her lifelong ride-or-die, Bonnie, who likely had a drink waiting and plenty of stories to share.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the selfless and compassionate staff at Avalon Healthcare, as well as the PeaceHealth Palliative Care and Hospice teams, whose kindness and dignity made all the difference in Tracey's final chapter.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1 PM at Cornwall Memorial Park (North) in Bellingham. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather, share stories, and remember Tracey in the way she would have wanted--honestly, lovingly, and with a little bit of sass. Food and drinks will be provided. RSVP at: https://skay.rsvpify.com
She's probably listening to Reba right now, bingo dauber in one hand, an ice-cold beverage in the other, smiling at the party waiting to begin as she ventures forth on her next adventure.
