William Visser

Bill Visser was 95 years old when he made his entrance into heaven on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was born in Roseland, Minnesota to Arthur and Grace (Nype) Visser. He was one of ten children. In his younger years he worked on various farms around Raymond, MN. He was drafted into the army in 1950 and served in the Korean war. After he was discharged from the army, he and a friend went to Lynden to visit relatives. There he met his future wife, Margaret VanderVeen. They were married in March of 1955 and just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He worked at various jobs until he purchased his farm in 1961 on Swanson Road in Sumas. They were "Dairy Family of the Year" along with their son Arlyn and his wife Sheila in 1988. Bill served on various boards, Dairy Federation, Darigold, DHIA, and the Farm Bureau. He also served as a Deacon and Elder in Everson Christian Reformed Church. He volunteered for several years with Lynden Christian School's recycling program. He leaves behind his wife, Margaret and his children, Arlyn (Sheila) Visser, Rhonda (Randy) Workentin, Darlene (Morrie) DeBoer, Marilyn (John) Weeks, Pam (Craig) Gunst and Rob Visser. Sixteen Grand Children and 29 Great Grand Children. His sisters, Hilda (Virgil) Bolson, Ruth VanHove and Marge Groen. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence Visser, Doward Visser, Janet Slagter, Harold Visser, Ray Visser and David Visser. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to his wonderful caregivers at Christian Health Care Center the past two years. A family graveside service will be held on Friday June 27, 2025, at 12:30 pm at Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Nooksack Reformed Church.
