ANTON LEVAY
AGE: 86 FORMERLY OF NEW BRUNSWICK
Anton Levay, 86, of Johnsonville, Pa., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at his residence. Born June 24, 1922 in Majdan, Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Kenderesi Levay. Anton and his beloved wife Lenke Phillips Levay, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past May. He was employed as a shoemaker at his business, Rutgers Shoe Repair, New Brunswick. A Golden Gloves boxer in Germany, he was a sports fan throughout his life, and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was the longest serving president of the "HAAC"-Hungarian American Athletic Club of New Brunswick.
He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Levay; and a sister, Elizabeth Abraham. In additon to his beloved wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lea, her sons Mitchell and MaxWilliam, her husband Carl Baylor, and his children Carl, Jerrel, Lee, and Seth Baylor; and great-grandson, Brian.
A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hungarian American Athletic Club, 233 Somerset St., New Brunswick, NJ 08901 or to the American Hungarian Foundation P.O. Box 1084, New Brunswick, NJ 08903-1084. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home, "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, Pa.
