BERNICE DRZEWOSZEWSKI SHIMALLA
AGE: 75 HILLSBOROUGH
Bernice Drzewoszewski Shimalla, 75, of Hillsborough died Friday (Sept. 5, 2008) at Somerset Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Poland, Bernice had been a resident of Manville for many years, before moving to Hillsborough 38 years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Bernice especially enjoyed spending time with her four dear grandchildren. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Church in Hillsborough and a member of the Manville VFW Post No. 2290 ladies auxiliary. Bernice truly loved to garden. She loved growing a variety of flowers and spending time in her garden. She was a devoted and meticulous homemaker and will be sadly missed by her loving family.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Eddie Drzewoszewski, who passed away in 2001. Also predeceased by her parents, the late John and Aniela Wolinski; and a brother, Walter Wolinski.
Surviving are her husband, George Shimalla of Hillsborough; sons, Donald Drzewoszewski of Gilbertsville, Pa., Stephen Drzewoszewski of Milford, Russell Drzewoszewski of Hampton; brothers, Steven Wolinski of Jacksonville, Fla.; Edward Wolinski of Inverness, Fla.; sisters, Maryann Antos of Manville, Barbara Salvatore of Readington, Irene Fialkowsky of Vineland. Also by four grandchildren, Donald E. Drzewoszewski, Jr., Jillian, Tyler and Christina Rose Drzewoszewski. Also by many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will begin 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, from the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, 908-575-8512, followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Mary Mother of God Church, Hillsborough. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater. The viewing will held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
