Blanca I. (Malave) Jackson died Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 48.

Born in New Brunswick, she earned an associate degree from Excelsior College in Albany, New York in 2003 and her bachelor degree in Nursing from Kean University in Union where she graduated in 2011 magna cum laude. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.

She started her nursing career in 1992 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick working in the Pediatric Emergency Room. She then joined the RWJ AIDS Program becoming the Coordinator of the HIV Counseling and Testing. She also became the supervisor for the Nurse Case Managers at Rutgers University.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in New Brunswick. She volunteered as a nurse for the Hole in the Wall Camp, was a member of the Organization of International Development for the People of Jamaica, was a member of the board of trustees of the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program for 10 years, and organized the Annual Holiday Party at RWJUH.

She was predeceased by her mother Linda Rivera and her sister Miosotis Malave. Surviving are her husband Dwayne O. Jackson; two sons - Dwayne A. Jackson and Justin Jackson, both of Hamilton; her father Candido Malave of Puerto Rico; her grandmother Lucy Rivera of Arizona; sisters - Belinda Malave, Maribel Estrada and Cynthia Rice, all of New Jersey; her brothers - Peter Malave of Illinois and Ronald Kovacks of the Carolinas; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 PM to 8 PM Tuesday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home 9:15 AM Wednesday followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Church in New Brunswick. Private cremation will follow.
