My parents built out house in Highland Park in the 1950's. Recently my Mom visited and told me this story.

The current owners called a landscaper and said "We have two trees on either side of the front door that need to be replaced". He asked what kind they were and they said they didn't know because the trees were there when they bought the house. He asked the address and then immediately said "They are _____". The owners asked how he could possibly know that. He said that he planted them in the 1950's. It was Carl.

Knew Carl as a resident of Parker Home. What a pleasant man! Go in peace with our Savior.

As a young doctor I moved to my home in East Brunswick in 1980. Unfortunately the builder had left a huge sweetgum tree on the side of my home that stretched over my and my neighbors houses. It soon became apparent that the tree was diseased and was a hazard.

. The builder woulod take no responsibility. I had seen the Bosenberg's trucks at Rutgers and decided to call him. We spoke of our ties to Rutgers and developed a mutual respect and admiration. His tree expert went up in a bucket and declared the tree beyond saving. Having zero money I asked Carl how much taking it down would be. He said $800. I immediately felt like kissing him, knowing what a bargain he was giving me. His crew worked FOUR DAYS on that project surgically removing every branch. At the end of the job Carl asked us to take a picture with them and "the largest tree he ever dealt with". I presume he retained this as a momento. He said it was a lot more work than he envisioned but never asked for another cent. I am writing this as a fond memory I have of Carl Bosenberg. He went out of his way to help me in my time of need. This was 35 years ago. I will remember Carl to my dying day. His example taught me that doing the right thing was far more important than money. I know he will rest in eternal peace.

Martha and Family,

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. He was a special person. I will always remember how he allowed the Class of 1971 to assemble our float for homecoming and provide his trailer for transport. He also allowed us to use his property for a bonfire. He made our high school years special.

May God Bless him. Pat
