Carla Stern Obituary
Carla Tinelli Stern, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Neptune, Carla grew up in Wanamassa and graduated from Ocean Township High School. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. Carla owned Books Unlimited in Neptune City and was a member of the American Booksellers Association for over 25 years. She was the past president of the Wilson School PTO in Neptune City. Carla was a member of the Jersey Shore Chapter of the Disneyana Fan Club. She did contract work for many U.S. Post Offices in the shore area. Carla enjoyed traveling and her two favorite trips were to Italy and Hawaii. She enjoyed her many trips to Walt Disney World with family and friends. Carla will be remembered for her kindness with everyone who knew her. She will be missed by her extended family and many close friends.
Carla is predeceased by her father, Frank Tinelli. She is survived by her husband, Michael Stern; daughter, Sarah Lee Stern; mother, Irene Tinelli, Neptune City; sister, Joanne Milano, Neptune; mother-in-law, Lillian Stern, Neptune City; sisters-in-law, Linda Stitely, Palm City, FL, Sharon Smith, Palm City, FL, Shirley (Poland) Longo, Ocean Twp., Susan Talarico, Landenburg, PA, Dolores White, Miami, OK; niece, Andrea Milano; nephew, Joesph Milano, many other nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Hwy. 33, Neptune. Condolences may also be made online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.

Dear Carla,
I can’t believe it has been 7 years already that you have been in Heaven. A lot has happened since then. Now your mom, Lil, and your Sarah Lee are with you. We really miss you every day. If I see a starfish I instantly think of you. We miss the fun just laughing over anything, hanging out in the bookstore , just laughing over crazy stuff. So miss your smile, but most of all your strength. Love you always and hopefully we will be back together one day. Till then I know I have an angel watching over me

Carla, it has been 2 years since you had to go. We miss you every day. There have been so many times that I wanted to talk to you and laugh at just goofy things with you. I hope we will see each other again. I so miss you every day. I am comforted that you are pain free now. We will always love you.

I only knew Carla for a few years but I know she fought a brave fight. No matter how bad she felt, she never failed to have a smile and hello. My condolences and sympathy to her family and friends who will miss her very much.

I am sending my deepest sympathy and love to all who loved Carla. I loved her too. She and Mike have been friends with my family for many, many years. I remember so many great times at Books Unlimited with my dad and sisters, and friendly gatherings through the years. Carla was with me during a very difficult situation a number of years ago, and her humor, kindness and help will stay in my memory always.

I can not believe that I will never see Carla's smiling face, laughing and calling for Petie boy. I know you really tried to stay, but for some reason you had to go to Heaven. Girlfriend every time I see a starfish, I will think of you.I am so grateful we all got to be together one last time.We will always love you and miss you. But now you are with your Dad and you have no more pain or worries. Mikey and Sarah, we know how much you miss Carla already, but she will always be with you. Carla is now our own Angel. Carla, you faced a long hard battle and you faced it with determination, bravery, strength, and courage. You fought hard, strong, and long and now you may rest in peace.
Mike, Sarah, Irene, Joanne, Andrea, Joey, Luis, and Juny - we cannot express how sorry we are over your loss. There are no words to lift your heart, no words to lift your spirits, and no words to describe our deep sympathy.
