Christopher Dishon Obituary

Christopher Charles Dishon

AGE: 22 • Toms River

Christopher Charles Dishon, 22, of Toms River, NJ lost his life to heroin addiction on April 27, 2017. Chris struggled with this demon for many years and fought a courageous battle which sadly he did not win. As with many young people who are fighting this disease, he believed he was invincible. "It will never happen to me, Mom."

Christopher was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 24, 1994. He graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Lacey Township High School. Chris had a smile that lit up any room he entered. He was a kind and gentle soul who saw only the good in others. Anyone who ever came in contact with Chris knew he had a heart of gold.

Surviving are his proud and loving mother, Margaret Dishon Superior, his step-father, Theodore Superior, his sister and best friend, Alicia Dishon, his devoted Auntie and "second mother," Rita Dishon, his dear cousin, Rosie "Roz" Dishon, his Pop-pop, Charles V. Dishon, his step-brother, Michael Superior, his step-sister, Christine Miller and her husband Scott, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd. in Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park.

Donations may be made to City of Angels NJ, Inc. P.O. Box 10237, Trenton, NJ 08650 or www.CityOfAngelsNJ.org. This organization reaches out to those struggling with addiction, those in recovery, and their families. If Chris's death saves one other individual or family from going through this heartache, it will have given his life meaning. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com

To Chris in Heaven..i didn't post a dedication just yet on social media because one, i didn't have the legendary Sha man to support or comment on my post always showing me love and support in my expressions online, and second cause thats not authentic and genuine enough to me. I'm sorry i missed your services :(, i went on the internet after hearing about this trying to find obitary info, but for only a few days, I've been so busy with school and work i didn't even know what day it was. I looked it up just now and saw i was to late and i'm upset with myself.. i meant to be there in person but was in spirit, i'm sorry Sha. My heart aches, i will never forget you, i will never forget that smile and who you really were behind this demon and this terrible disease. I knew all along who you were, i understood why and how this was affecting you. I can't help but feel upset and hurt i did not reach out enough or come out to see Portugal with you, or reach out as much as i would have liked. Our days on the mat hold such dear value to my heart, our bond was unbreakable, it's so true you saw the good in everyone. I was paralyzed with shock, an unemotional feeling of disbelief hearing about your departure from this earth. I will never forget you. As i sit here in tears, i will stay strong and know that at the end of the day i will only be overwhelmed with joy when thinking about you...My condolences and love go out to your family, i will never forget you Chris.

- Nick V ..aka Young Tobe..love ya bro

Dear Family...you are all in my prayers. And I thank you for the open, honest obituary of your son which causes all of us to think about the scourge that heroin is in our county. May your son's death bring other addicts away from the demon and toward God. God bless all of you,

It is very sad to lose someone at such an early stage in his life. I know you don't know me and I don't know your family but my heart goes out to all of the family. When those demons get a grip on someone it is often very hard to get rid of them. Now at last he is at peace and the demons are gone. When you think of him always think of him with a smile. R.I.P. Christopher You are blessed to be in the arms of God and He will keep the demons from bothering you again.

Although I did not know Christopher, I am sad he lost his fight with addiction. I am also so please to see that his family has helped to put a face on the dangers of addition. Like Christopher, too many think, not me.
While Christopher is gone and, the family will need to deal with the bitterness of loss, my prayers are that you all soon find sweetness in fond memories.
May God bless you all and, give you strength knowing that by being up front about Christopher's passing, you may well have saved another life.
