Dear Mark and Judy,When I found out your Dad passed away I was heartbroken.I had worked for him back in the 70's and had so much respect for him and his excellence with horses.
I never forget the great times and horses he trained during that timeframe.I still remember everyone of them. Mr.Correlation,Mongongo,Miss Bee Hope and so many others.Dan to me was no doubt one of the Best trainers in the business. He was dedicated, very smart and I learned alot from him as I went on to get my own Trainers license.
Today you have Bob Baffert,Steve Asmussen.Jerry Hollendorfer and a few other greats. No doubt today Dan could have competed with any of them.
I thought about him many times and we ran into each other awhile back.Your Dad was a heck of a man and Great Trainer.I will never forget him.

My deepest condolences to the family (old friend Mark from 1972) for your loss.
I first heard of Danny when he was training for Congo Jones at Garden State Park in the 60's. We did meet up at Atlantic City in 1972. We stayed friend's until the 80's. The day he ran Lord Avie in the Travers he was so happy. He gave all of the Lord Avie friends peanut brittle from Monmouth County, N.J. A true horseman. R.I. P.
