AGE: 67 • Jackson Twp.

Ernest Fred Thomason, 67, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at home. Ernest was born in New Brunswick, NJ, and resided in Highland Park, NJ, settling in Jackson Twp., 23 years ago. Ernest was a sheriff's officer employed by the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department, New Brunswick, NJ for 26 years before his retirement in 1998. Prior to that, he worked for the Piscataway, NJ, Police Department and the Middlesex County Department of Corrections both for 1 year. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard where he served as a Military Police Sgt. Ernest was a communicant of St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Jackson Twp., NJ, and a lifetime member of the Middlesex County PBA Local #165, Middlesex County, NJ. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Marion Thomason; and by his brother, Isadore Wayne Thomason. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, CarolAnn Thomason; his sons, Ernest Wesley Thomason of Jackson Twp., Derek Casey Thomason of Jackson Twp., and Craig Thomason and his wife Sonya of Easton, PA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 6-8 PM, and on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the funeral home. His funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:15 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ 08562. If so desired, contributions may be made in Ernest's memory to the Jackson Twp. I remember Ernie as a gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor, big heart, great smile and serious work ethic. Fondest memories of his "I Remember When" stories. He was a pleasure to work with. My condolences to his family on their loss.
