Esther A. Kopf

AGE: 93 • Bridgewater

Esther A. Kopf, 93, Passed away September 9, 2013. Esther was born in Franklin Township, NJ, and formerly of Bridgewater, before moving to Virginia Beach in 1996. She was the daughter of the late Lambert and Anna Cripps Barrick. She graduated from Flemington High School, class of 1938. She was a sales clerk at the Flemington Cut Glass Company for over thirty years, active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, Troop 46, in Martinsville. She worked on the Election Board and many fund raisers in Bridgewater, and was a life member of the Princess Anne Senior/Recreation Center, Virginia Beach, where she also served as Sunshine Chairperson, sending many cards to brighten the days of fellow members. Mrs. Kopf was a member of The Martinsville United Methodist Church in Martinsville, served on many committees, taught Sunday School, and was the Sunshine Chairperson for many years, sending greeting cards to church members to bring sunshine into their lives.

She is predeceased by her husband, Frederick W. Kopf, who died in 1994, three sisters: Mary Stein, Hazel Harrison, and Viola Marion, a brother Lambert Barrick Jr., and two step-brothers, Raymond P. Kerr and Bernard "Red" Kerr. Surviving are two sons: Wayne A. Kopf and wife Carmela and Donald F. Kopf and wife Danise, three grandchildren: David W. Kopf and Jenna M. Kopf and Donna L. Kopf, a great-grandson: Corbin J. Stokes, a sister Florence Knoster, step-sister Charlotte Ryan, step-brother Joseph R. Kerr and step-sister-in-law Ginny Kerr.

Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday at the Martinsville United Methodist Church, 1949 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Thursday at the Bruce C VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Martinsville United Methodist Church, PO Box 355 Martinsville, New Jersey 08836.
