Flossie Nelson Obituary
formerly of Plainfield
Flossie L. Nelson "Flo" passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2012, surrounded by her family. Flo was born in South Carolina, the daughter of William and Lillie Mae Thomas who predecease her. She lived in Plainfield, New Jersey for more than 26 years where she and her husband James (aka Sip or Skinny) Scipio Jr. raised their 3 children. She was a member of Saint John's Baptist Church in Scotch Plains. She and James returned to South Carolina in 1986. James and Flo were married for 35 years before his passing in 1988. Flo was then blessed to have met a wonderful man, Don Henley Nelson, whom she married on June 20, 1993. They shared a beautiful life together and enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as worshipping, traveling, talking, and just going on impromptu excursions.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her loving and devoted husband of 20 years, Don Henley Nelson; her adoring three children, James Scipio III of Columbia, SC, John Russell Scipio of Plainfield, NJ, and Jana Tai-Shai (Scipio) Lattimore and her husband Michael of North Plainfield, NJ along with her grandchildren, Julian, Lauren and Jasmine Lattimore of North Plainfield. She is also survived by four wonderful sons by marriage, twenty grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 8, 2012 @ 12:00 PM @ Reconciliation Ministry-East, 6826 Two Notch Rd. Columbia, SC 29223, Haile's Funeral Home, Camden, SC, is in charge of the arrangements.
