Frank Macko Jr., 70, of Toms River, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home. Born in New Brunswick, he had resided in South River before moving to Toms River 12 years. Before his retirement in 2001, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Borough of South River for 30 years. Frank was an exempt fireman and Ex-Chief for Engine Company #1 in South River where he was a member for 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He is predeceased by his wife, Carole Macko in 2000; by his granddaughter, Samantha Olsen; and his parents, Frank & Zena Macko. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Tracey Tylicki, with whom he lived, David & Lori Tylicki of Brick, and Lisa & Russell Olsen of South River; his grandchildren, Brian, Brooke, Paul, Leigh, Whitney, Steven, Megan, Sarah, Nicholette and Christopher; his sisters and their husbands, Nadine & John Warner of Ortley Beach, and Claudia & Dominic Letizia of Berkeley Township; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River, with private cremation to follow.
