Gabriella Coffey

AGE: 90 • Brick

Gabriella (nee Bartolomei) Coffey, 90, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Christian Health Care Center, Wyckoff. She was born in Rome, Italy in 1922. In 1946, she met her husband (the late Joseph L. Coffey). He was an Army Sergeant stationed in Rome during WW II. They married in Rome and returned to the U.S. They lived in North Bergen and then later in Brick. "Gaby" as her friends called her, loved to cook, paint, garden and read. She was an exercise enthusiast, she taught exercise classes at her senior retirement community.

Gabriella is survived by her children, Joseph Coffey Jr. and his wife Janice of Warwick, NY, Julie Palmeri and her husband Robert of Glen Rock, and Larry Coffey and his wife Lynn of Jackson. She is predeceased by her daughter, Patricia. Grandmother to Shawn and Brian Conklin, Lara Hayes and Greg Coffey, Lauren and Adam Palmeri, and Brandon and Austin Coffey. Great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, and Ryan Hayes, Noelle Conklin, and Gregory Coffey.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, april 10 at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gabriella may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, NY, NY 10163-4777 would be appreciated. For additional information, please visit www.vpfairlawn.com.
