George Clayton Obituary
AGE: 83 • Jackson
George W. Clayton, 83, of Jackson, died peacefully surrounded by his entire family, on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. George was born in Matawan to William and Clara Tice Clayton and remained in Matawan until he and his wife moved to Keyport where they spent 32 years raising their children. George proudly served our country in Korea in the US Army. He retired from Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital maintenance department. Previously he worked for Kerr Glass in Keyport, OK Sales in Matawan and as a Matawan taxi driver for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post #4247, Keyport where he was a past Jr. Vice Commander and was a member of the Jackson Methodist Church. George was a wonderful husband, a great dad and the "bestest" pop-pop!
He is predeceased by his parents, brothers; Charles, Billy, Richie and Kenny and sisters; Mary and Violet. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances DeBiase Clayton, sons; Ralph of Jackson and George and wife Ellen of Old Bridge, daughters; Anna Clayton of FL Theresa Clayton of Jackson and Ellen Clayton of Manchester, grandchildren; Greta, Gregory, Kenneth, Frances, Kristilyn, Edward, Raymond, Keriann, Eric, Stephen, Kristen, Erin, Thomas, Reagan and Erica and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1st from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Bedle Funeral Home, 61 Broad St. Keyport, NJ 07735. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 2nd 10:30am. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in George's name be made to the Veterans Memorial Garden, Inc., P.O. Box 1499, Jackson, NJ 08527.
