Dr. George Morren

AGE: 72 • Rocky Hill

Dr. George Edward Bradshaw Morren, of Rocky Hill, NJ, originally of West Brighton, Staten Island, NY, died at home on September 29, 2011, at the age of 72. He was the son of George Morren and Ruth (Wood) Morren of West Brighton. He was a graduate of Staten Island Academy and Columbia College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963, returning to Columbia to obtain a PhD in Anthropology. For years he was a Professor of Anthropology at Cook College of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. From 2005 to 2008 he served as Mayor of Rocky Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Gardner, his son, Karl Debreczeny and his wife Kristina Dy-Liacco of New York City, and his brother, Christopher Morren of Stonington, CT.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 6 pm at Rutgers University's Cook Campus Center, 59 Biel Road, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Contributions can be made for a scholarship, in memory of George E.B. Morren Jr., to The Rutgers Foundation, c/o Development Office, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, 88 Lipman Drive, New Brunswick, N.J. 08901.
