Helen Junker Obituary

Helen Junker

Monroe Township, formerly of Milltown - Helen "Chip" (Hoelzer) Junker died on June 26, 2020 peacefully at her home in Monroe Township. She would have been 97 this year. She was born in Milltown and lived on Washington Ave. and attended Milltown schools and New Brunswick High School.

She married Warren H. Junker during World War II. They moved from Milltown to Upper Saddle River to Whiting prior to her move to Monroe. While living in Milltown, she was a member of St. Paul's UCC Church where she was part of the apple pie baking team and a Sunday school teacher.

She enjoyed doing some amazingly intricate crafts and traveling. She also loved spending time at the Jersey shore with family and friends. She especially loved the family get togethers at Thanksgiving, Easter and lobster parties at the beach. She was a kind and generous soul and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren H. Junker, her father Reuben Hoelzer, her mother, Helen Hoelzer, her twin brother, Robert (Beaver) Hoelzer and wife Joan, her older brother Reuben and wife Eleanor and the sister she never had Grace Junker Regnault. Buttons, her cherished canine companion of 18 years passed away earlier this month.

She is survived by her daughter Helen McCarthy and her sons David (Karen) McCarthy and Mark (Angela) McCarthy, her son Dr. Warren R. Junker (Faye) and their children Warren A. Junker, Dr. Lauren Junker van Sleeuwen (Rutger) and Jonathan (Jennifer) Junker, her niece, Joan Trent, and other nieces and nephews and their families. She was delighted by her 5 great grandchildren: Lilly and Luc van Sleeuwen, Taylor and Riley Junker and Sean McCarthy.

A special thanks to her companion caretakers, Aloma and Keren, who allowed her to remain in her home the last 8 years.

Private services with a burial in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick are under the direction of Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation or The Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg, Jamesburg, NJ.
