I am very fortunate to have known Irma Lester during and after her time at Brookdale Community College. Irma was a talented and passionate educator who inspired students, colleagues and others who knew her. She was dedicated to diversity and acceptance and devoted years to committee work training and programing for the Diversity Council .

I was in Irma's first Women's Studies class in the spring of 1972. I met up with her again when I joined the BCC faculty in 1990. I loved running into her over the years. Many blessings Irma!Terry Falcone

Thanks to Irma, the Women's and Gender Studies program at Brookdale continues to teach women and men to treat each other with respect and kindness. What an important concept in these crazy times.
I just have to add that I will never forget how Irma so graciously calmed my nerves as we interviewed Gloria Steinem together a few years ago. Irma was a mentor to me in life as well as teaching, and I will miss her.

Irma was one of the first people I met when I began my Brookdale career many years ago. She was a passionate and influential member of this community, and I remember feeling welcomed and inspired in her presence.
My condolences to her family. May her life be a blessing to all she touched.
