John Giaquinto Obituary

John R. Giaquinto

AGE: 94 • Edison

John R. Giaquinto, 94, of Edison, passed away Friday June 9, 2017 at the Mary Anne Hale Pavilion Haven Hospice, Edison.

Born and raised in New Brunswick, he graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1941. He has been an Edison resident most of his life.

John was in the Army Air Corp. and was a gunner on the A20 and B25 Airplanes during WWII.

He and his brother, James, started Giaquinto Brothers Construction in 1960. They built single family homes, apartment buildings and condominiums throughout Middlesex County. Most recently, he was involved in Commercial Property Management.

John was a lifetime member and currently active with the National Home Builders Association and the New Jersey Home Builders Association, where he was President in 1968.

He was voted Builder of the year by the Raritan Valley Builders Association in 1969.

He was a longtime member and currently active at the Metuchen Country Club, where he was Club Champ in 1975.

He was a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

John is predeceased by his siblings James, Florence and Rose.

Surviving are his wife Mary Giaquinto (Scanlon), whom he dated for 6 years before marrying 10 years ago; his sons John Giaquinto and his wife Kay of Atlanta, GA and Richard Giaquinto and his wife Mae of Atlanta, GA; three siblings Violet, Ben, Marianne and many grandchildren.

The funeral will take place Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 8:30 am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen (732) 548-0149 followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

Entombment is in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.

Visitation is Monday 2-4 and 7-9.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary Anne Hale Haven Hospice c/o JFK Medical Center, 65 James St., Edison, NJ 08820
