Joseph Hoski Obituary
AGE: 81 • Middlesex
Joseph P. Hoski, 81, entered into eternal life peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the McCarrick Care Center in Somerset. Born and lived in Jersey City to his late parents Paul Horoszewski and Catherine Swierczek, he moved to Middlesex in 1963.
Joe was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy. He began his work career with the Metal Lathers Union NY Local #46. In 1954, Joe and his wife opened Theresa's Flower Shop in Jersey City. Joe moved to Middlesex in 1963 where he then opened Hoski's Florist. Joe also operated The Travel Doctor Agency in Middlesex. In 1995, Joe retired and was able to spend many years with his family and friends.
Joe was the first Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O. of Elks Lodge #1488 in Middlesex. He was a member and 1984 man of the year with the P.A.C.E. group, was a former president of the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and former associate board member with Franklin State Bank. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex and for over forty years, he was an active member with the Loyola House of Retreats.
Joe enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and friends and spent time at his home in the Pocono's; where everyone knew him as "Pocono Joe". Every year, Joe and his wife travelled to St. Maarten with their dear friends Cathie and Robert, family and grandchildren.
In 2009, Joe lost his wife Theresa (Wroblewski) Hoski and is predeceased by his six siblings. Joe leaves behind his loving children; Linda Hoski of East Millstone and her boyfriend Jeff Windwer, Martin Hoski and his wife Lauren of Dunellen and Renee Androus and her husband Victor of Middlesex. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren Dean, Drew and Dylan and by his favorite dog Rocky.
Visitation will take place at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, September 16, 2013 beginning 8:45 a.m. followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex.
