Joseph Edward Kupper

AGE: 65 • Ocean Beach

Joseph Edward Kupper, age 65 of Ocean Beach, NJ, passed away peacefully in his residence on Wednesday January 1, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Laura Kupper and brother Charlie. He is survived by his loving daughter JoAnna Kupper of Normandy Beach; two sisters Alice Kupper of Atlantic Highlands, Dorothea Brune of Vernon, and brother Louis Kupper of Wall. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born in New Brunswick, he grew up in the Brick Township section of Normandy Beach, his true home, and graduated Brick Township High School in 1966. Joe then honorably served in the 2nd infantry division of the United States Army, stationed in South Korea from 1969 to 1971. Our sincere condolences to Joe's family. We are deeply sorry for your loss. We have fond memories of Joe and his crew on the "Sea Snake" cruising alongside the "Hotknives" down Barnegat Bay. Never a dull moment. I only get up there a couple of times a year these days and try to make it on Thursdays so I can see the crew. Always enjoyed catching up with Kupp. Keep it at your back Capt.

Joe, "a good man" in every way. I will always remember your kindness and the unique sound of your voice and laugh. And the only time I ever saw you lose your composure, trying to flip unruly eggs in your coffee shop one morning! Love and peace to you my friend. To Joe's family, my sincere condolences go out to you. And to Joey: your Dad will always be by your side, guiding you by remote navigation.

There are not enough words to write or pages to fill that could do justice to eulogizing Joe. He was bigger than life and touched so many of us with that smile, that sparkle in his eye and his antics. He was our Mayor, our Captain Kupp and our dear dear friend. We we're blessed to have known him and to have shared this earth with him. So many stories to hold close to our hearts. So many laughs and smiles shared. Sail on sweet friend till we all gather again in the Normandy Beach in the sky!
