Joshua Payne, DMD Obituary
AGE: 66 • Somerset
Dr. Joshua Payne died on Saturday afternoon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 66 years old. Dr. Payne was born in Elizabeth and resided in Somerset since the mid 1960's.
Dr. Payne has been practicing as a dentist in Somerset for over 40 years. He also was a teacher at the New Jersey Dental School in Newark prior to opening his practice in Somerset. He enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and hiking and had an affinity for our National Parks. Dr. Payne was very meticulous and kept his home in fine order being certain to fix anything on the brink of disrepair. Other hobbies and pastimes included genealogy study, a good debate with a friend the preparation of a fine meal for friends and family to enjoy.
He was pre deceased by his parents; Roger and Marian Payne. Dr. Payne is survived by his wife of 15 years; Irina Payne of Somerset, his children; Denise Davis and her husband Jonathan of Castleton, NY and Daniel Payne and his wife Kristin of Branchburg . He is also survived by his Step Children; Aleksey Demchouk and his wife Bella of MN, and Veronica Demtchouk of Somerset and his 4 grandchildren; Brennan, Arianna, Harrison, and Nicholas and his mother in law; Nelli.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. All other services will take place privately. In memory of Dr. Payne, please consider donating blood or Platelets to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Josh...he was our next door neighbor for almost 15 years. He was one of the first in the neighborhood who made us feel welcome...he was an original owner from when the development was new, we are the 4th owner of this house. He and his wife Irina, step-daughter Veronica and MIL Nelli have been such nice neighbors these last few years. My husband Bob and I will greatly miss all the wonderful, impromptu conversations over the fence that we had with Josh while taking a break from tending to our yards and outdoor chores! Josh always had a new home improvement project which he always took great care with and inspired others with his attention to detail and craftsmanship....that's a dentist for you. When he fell ill and was diagnosed 2 years ago we were all shocked. In the subsequent months as Josh battled his illness we were hopeful the day when we saw him driving again. We are so sorry for this huge loss to his wife and family. Josh will be sorely missed by friends and neighbors as well. To his family, know that he made his mark in our own lives and that we will always remember him.

Dear Irina and Danny and Denise: we are saddened by your loss and that of our neighborhood's.
Josh has been a guiding light of perfection for all of us here on Cedar Brook and his smile and warm welcome has benefitted us all. He inspired us to be a bit better and nicer by befriending us upon our arrival. He showed us first hand how to be a good Father and a supporter of Scouting, and be a friendly neighbor. He will be missed and remembered. Dan, Ann, Brendan, and Casey Conley.
