MABEL (MAE) TORMEY
AGE: 83 FITZGERALD, GA
Mabel (Mae) Tormey, 83, of Fitzgerald, GA, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Fitzgerald Nursing Home. Mrs. Tormey was born Feb. 24, 1926 in Staten Island, NY to the late John and Anna Marie Shoppmann Cruser. She was a homemaker and had lived in Fitzgerald for 2 years coming from Barnegat, NJ. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved to knit and sew and was a member Berry Homes Garden Club. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Staten Island Little League. Mae had a kind and open heart and generous nature.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Joseph Tormey in 1992; sons, Edward M. Tormey and Sean Allen Tormey; brothers, John and William Cruser. Mae is survived by her children, Kevin Tormey of Beaufort, SC, Maureen Lo Bue of Staten Island, NY, Geraldine Carey Fitzgerald, Eileen Tormey of Barnegat, NJ, Christopher Tormey of Brooklyn, NY, and Thomas Tormey of Fitzgerald,GA. Also surviving are her 19 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:45am at the funeral home followed by Interment at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Viewing hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm and Tuesday morning from 10-10:45am at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Rd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to MADD, The Association for the blind, or The American Cancer Society. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. My most fondest memories are with your parents when they came back after the races and we would sit and drink coffee and just talk till the wee hours. May they find peace and happiness together in heaven.
