MARIE RAYNOR
SOMERSET
Marie Raynor of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, October 19, 2008, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Raynor was born in Pensacola, Florida, and lived briefly in Detroit, Michigan, before settling in New Jersey in 1959. She was employed by the Plainfield Public School District as a teacher's aide and later by the Home Life Insurance Company in Piscataway. After retirement, she remained active as a child care provider with the Somerset Community Action Program, Somerset, N.J.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset for over 20 years, where she formerly sang in Senior Choir #2 and served on the Pastor Aide Committee and Golden Girls Club.
Her husband, Edwin H. Raynor Sr., died in 1993. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Maurice Raynor of Inglewood, California, and Edwin Raynor Jr. and wife, Renee, of Bound Brook; three daughters, Edwina Lassiter of North Brunswick, Jakima Dyson and husband, Carlos, of Brandywine, Maryland, and Lavita Raynor of Franklin Park; two sisters, Loretta Williams of South Brunswick and Ruth Evans of Somerset; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 771 Somerset St., Somerset. A viewing will be held at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Entombment will be at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum, Route 27, North Brunswick. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford Street, New Brunswick.
