MARILYN FLETCHER THORPE
AGE: 76 FORMERLY OF EAST BRUNSWICK
Marilyn Fletcher Thorpe, 76, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at home, after a long struggle with cancer and serious complications. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Francis and Louis De Bernardis in 1933. She graduated from St. Brendes All Girls Catholic High School in 1951. Upon her marriage to Jack Fletcher, she moved to Staten Island and in 1981, they moved to East Brunswick. Jack died in 1989, also her father the same year.
She is survived by her mother, Francis De Bernardis; two brothers, John De Bernardis and his wife Verna of Jackson, and William De Bernardis and his wife Judy of East Brunswick; her son, Jack Fletcher of Oviedo, Fla.; her two daughters, Cindy Marchese of Monroe, and Judy Webb of Old Bridge; her husband Robert Thorpe of Jackson; three stepdaughters; seven stepgranddaughters; three stepgreat-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephew and cousins.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 from the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James R.C. Church, Jamesburg.
